Default 94-95 5.0 same as 87-93?

Hi, I'm restoring an 87 GT, it needs the power train and body work. I can't find a parts car with the engine and trans anywhere near where I live, but I found a 95 GT with the 5.0. I was wondering if the engines, (and possibly the trannys) are the same as the 87-93. Thanks

Don't know bout transmission but engine is the same. The only difference is the intakes are different because they couldn't fit the fox body intake in the sn-95. Also, the 94 and 95 have hypeuretic pistons unlike the forged ones that would be in your 87. The 1987 doesn't have mass air so you would need to convert it for mass air. This is very easily and cheaply done with a kit sold by ford. Good luck, it will be easy.

Yah, I'm aware of the MAF problems, I had plans on converting it anyway. So is the intake manifold different, or is it only the plenum (upper intake some may call it)? Thanks! If the trans is the same I'll buy the car.

Anybody know if the trannys are the same?

I don't want an AOD, it's going to be a 5-speed car (T-5... if the 94/95's are T-5's that is)

Ya they are t-5. Im not sure if you will need a older driveshaft but the tranny will fit.

the input shafts are different lengths so it wont work unless you change it out

Tranny's are the same, and the driveshaft should be as well... It's just a different body, and the upper intake is different. Hope this helps.

I agree with mustang30240...the input shafts are a different length. Also, the 95 GT has a world class T-5...not sure if the 86 to 93 is world class but I don't think it is....the internals are a bit different. The point is..not sure if you could just swap out the input shaft and make it work.
