Default Please Help

Took the car to the track for the first time last wednesday since its been done and the day didnt go good from the beginning. First off im running an 87 hatch5 spd. with a 308, forged crank ross pistons trick flow high port heads and stage 3 cam, victor jr intake and edelbrock 750 carb and all the msd stuff. I put about 300 miles on it in the past 2 weeks and had no problems but i wasnt really getting on it. I go to leave for the track and the car doenst want to stay running. the rpm guage is jumping all over the place so i was playing with a few of the wires by the msd box and it went away. So First time out do a good burnout and everythig seems to be fine then once i started going as soon as i hit 5000 rpm it started popping like crazy thru first and second gear, ran a 9.3 in the eight on street tires. Seemed a bit slow to me, then second time out exact same thing. The car is getting plenty of fuel so i know its not leaning out at high rpms, the only other thing that i could think of is maybe the msd box? its kindof old. Thanks for your help

it sounds like you are getting too much, or too little fuel at the big end, try changing the jets and make another pass.

A 750 carb is sorta big for that much of a 308. Try a 650 carb. Borrow one someplace.
BTW, check all the ground connections on the car to include the battery, they have to be tight.......
