Gnarly! I figure distilled water is much cheaper then coolant and most of the time coolant gets spilled during leak diagnosis so why waste the money. Once I get the leak all patched up I can take the distilled water I have and make some 50/50 mix or just pick up some 50/50 mix.

Reason I said to do a compresion test was cause he had a leak previously that he repaired, and a new one came up with the smoke in the back, meaning that his system maybe buidling more pressure than there should be which a leaky head gasket can cause. Didnt think about the coolant leakin on the exhaust causeing steam/smoke. Probably a good Idea to do both tests again and did you pressure test it after you fixed the timing cover leak?
