cracked bumper cover repair
i have a 79 mustang and wanted to do the conversion. i found a lx bumper cover at a local junkyard and he wants 40 for it. the problem is the car had been wrecked and there is about a 2 to 3 inch crack on the pass side when it rounds the car. its right in the bend. i was wondering if it would be worth the money and how easily the crack can be fixed. also what is the best to fix the crack with?</P>

cracked bumper cover repair
Ive fixed one with stuff called plastic weld from a parts store. I repaired it from the back then rubbed some over the front real smooth just to fill the cracks. Then just prep and paint. </P>
I didnt use bondo because I was afraid it would crack on the plastic down the road, but Im no body man so I dont really know. I can say my repair was perfect though.</P><edited><editID>mdvaldosta</editID><editDate>37921.4725578704</editDate></edited>

did you use auto paint on it? I just passed up a bumper cover because I wasn't sureI could get paint to stick to thevinyl. OBTW- the "Ecology" self sevice yards here in Socal sell the covers for $26.00 regular price-every 3 months or so they have a 1/2 price sale.Saturday was the last sale. Kinda miffed that I left the 1/2 off cover because I d/n know what paint to use.</P>
