it is 8 1/4 long and the old one is just 8.. it is an automatic and always has been

I assume he means the 2 pins that align the bell housing and the back of the engine block. Should be one on each side if I remember correctly

automatics use flexplates, not flywheels.

if you look straight down the front of the bellhousing the converter should be just a little bit inside the bellhousing, if its not then its not seated right.

yeah put the old one back on.. and i took te bellhousuing off the c4 and it slid right on.. it had to be that that shaft is to long.. can i grind it down or any way i can rig it up? like a spacer or something.. i have a plasma cutter i can use to make one

ok so is the bellhousing binding up or are the bolts just going in all the way and bottoming out. i just did the swap and the bolts form the AOD are to long and you have to use shorter ones....

If the bell goes on no problem then yea it sounds like the converter isn't seated right....OR somehow you got stuck with the bigger torque converter when you got the c4. You really need to get a pic up here with the converter installed on the tranny so we can see where you are at.

AND DON"T CUT THE SHAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
