So since I am replacing stock oem parts I can get the 2 1/4 inch kit? It would be nice to have one of the higher end kits but I cant really justify buying a $400 exhaust system for a daily driver.
I saw that summit has their own exhaust kit. There is also a kit by Flowtech. These are both 2 1/2 so if I have to get 2 1/2 it will probably be one of those. Anyone have any experience with the summit or flowtech brands?

if you can't justify quality and nice sound and all you care about your 5.0 being is a vehicle to get you from point a to point b for crap sake just go down to autozone and buy the cheapest one they have availible

not to mention one of those higher end kits will last so much longer than the others. i have a mac cat back and when my ball joint broke my muffler grabbed a pot hole and was shoved into my axle all that happened to it was the bolts broke and a little dent in the axle bend

if my income allowed me to get a $400 exhaust system i'd do it. I was just trying to get the next step up from the $30 maremont mufflers on partsamerica.com. But it doesnt look like you guys think it will make a difference. besides, if i were to put that much money into it then it really needs to go to an engine rebuild. I'm about 10k miles away from a 1/4 million miles and my compression is starting to suffer from it.
I know i'm not taking all of your advice but i do appreciate the input.
The thing i'm still wondering about is the pipe diameter. from mjr46 comment the stock equipment is 2 1/4. Since i am replacing the oem stuff shouldn't i get the 2 1/4 kit? Or will they both fit?

get the 2 1/4 since performance is not your goal..it'll serve it's purpose for you.....OH AND FYI most of the people may on here may not support your choice because they are performance minded, but if that is not your concern just get the stock replacement size

ok, thanks. I expected some resistance here since since im getting the cheaper stuff. I just wanted to make sure whatever I got will fit. It sounds like both kits will fit so that's all I needed to know. thanks.
