10-30 should be fine. The Motorcraft oil filter is good too, it's a synthetic media, but the K&N is a bit better, pricier though. And all oils are not even close to being the same. And Royal Purple is total freaking crap.

i run quaker state 10-30 synthetic, works great, and plus one on royal purples crap, heard to many probs ot of them

i'm running valvoline 50 wt in my 86 gt. been doing so for over 20 yrs now. but i do live in so. cal. don't think 50 wt would work well where it gets cold
