Default 347 daily driver???

I know a guy who has one in his 96 Cobra, with nitrous as well, takes Z06s left and right, and drives it regularily. Even in the high St. Louis humidity in summer, his aftermarket fan works great, and running synthetic by Mobile 1 always helps. So from my experiences, you should be OK, as for reliablility, he hasn't had any problems that I remember.

as long as the parts aren't crap, why would you have a problem?

well any race engine the reliably heads south due to stress..a 331 now is a very reliable engine..it really matters with the 347 the piston you choose, many sellers of the kit have come along way in adressing the oil problem with the 347

Yea the 331 is getting more popular now than the 347 due to what vfast said, not to mention a 331 still likes to rev a little

Depends on what company you get the kit from and how good your machinist is. Mines been in the car for two years now and no problems. As for rpm's, I shift at 6700 (with chip to bypass rev limiter).</P>

The problems associated with theoil "blow-by" and side loading inthe 347 have been solved. Talk to some of the manufacturers of the kits. Most price the 347 and 331 about the same so it doesn't bother them to sell you either kit. Ask them asquestions as you can think of. Most of them are willing to help you make the proper choice for what you want to do.</P><edited><editID>br93lx</editID><editDate>37916.5448263889</editDate></edited>

would you drive a 351 on the street? because the performance of a 347 is just alittle bit less.
