Default 180 mph speedo

i'm looking to buy a 180 mph ford factory speedo from an 83 gt vert. want to know if i will have calibration issues putting it in an 86 gt vert

wait what?? ford never sold a 180mph speedo, infact there was a ferderal law that said no vehicle sold in the US can have a speedo from the factory higher then 85mph, Ford got around it by selling 140mph speedos thru their Ford Motorsports shops.

I think Saleen made 180 speedos but those are very rare and around $200 minimum

anyway I was just informing the OP maybe he was buying a recalibrated/non-factory speedo and not to spend extra for a false item

So does having a 180 speedo add cool factor? I don't see the hype. What good does it do a car that def can't reach that speed.

well its much better then 85mph, kinda sucks when people ask if its because your car cant go past 85mpn

oh and I've used the second half of my speedo

I will agree the 85 is weak. that's back in the day when the freakin gov't was crawling up everyones *** about economy and the like. I guess they figured if the speedo only went to 85 ppl wouldn't go any faster. Haha yeah right.

180 is still over kill. JMO though.

i agree 180 is overkill, I have the motorsports 140mph, should be under my profile

you're right pro50sc. cool factor all the way. but i did an update to this. typo error. it was a 180 kph speedo. is there a way to make it read mph using the same face?
