Exclamation 1992 Mustang Gt 5.0 HO Tranny Issues

I have a 1992 mustang gt 5.0 ho with an AOD tranny in it with 150k on it. Have recenytly changed the fluid and filter on the unit and replaced the TV cable and adjusted according to specs...When the car is cold shifts great...Once it warms up it starts slipping till you hit about 3k then it slams into gear from a take off...then starts shifting erraticly...but none of that when its cold...any ideas I can check...I am a mechanic but not a trans specilist by any means...Dawrench

dang your having problems too huh. my AOD is doing the same thing. but it wont shift cold, itll only shift when its warm. i built mine and put a lentech valve body in it, and i manually shift it. 1st gear is great, but when its cold it will not go into 2nd. warm, it will shift into 2nd but sometimes slips out and back into 1st. once i go to 3rd and OD its fine and no problems. i dont know whats wrong with it.

Double check your fliud level and make sure it is full, and also double check the kick down and make sure that is correct, those AOD's are sensitive when it comes to those kickdown cables, i had an AOD and it was just to much of a pain, so i swapped to a C4.

It sounds like a TV cable adjustment issue. I don't know how many times I've done it as the book says, but it rarely works out. The best way to adjust the TV cable is using a trans. pressure gauge. on the first page of these instructions you'll find the proceedure & where to hook up the gauge.
