Default adjusting cluth in my 88gt

Hey fellas i just installed a new tranny and clutch in my 88 gt and when putting it into reverse it does some grinding its like my clutch ant funny disingaging and i have some slop in the clutch pedel how do i adjust this problem i no their self adjusting is their anyhting else i can do. thanks

You need to ditch that junk stock clutch quadrant and buy an aftermarket, adjustable one. There only like $60 on ebay. Money well spent, it beats grinding on your new trans.

As for your stock piece, you could try pulling up on your clutch pedal, it should click a couple times and that may help.

I'll be the first to praise quality aftermarket quadrants but you guys make it sound like a stock set up will not enable you to engage reverse.

Pull the pedal up past it's normal position. This will initiate the ratchet mechanism and tighten up your cable. You should now have full disengagement.

Even with a fully disenaged clutch. Reverse will still grind if you don't let the disc stop spinning. You either need to wait about 3 seconds before you jam it in reverse or slip in it a forward gear, then engage reverse. Unless you have a 93 like me. Then you don't have to do either.
