Question *** Backfire In Manifold?? ***

Hey guy's, I need your help and I know the guy's here are the "BAD BOYS" when it comes to 5.0.......My 92' LX has just had a Supercharger (9psi), Trick Flow Stage 1 cam, MSD btb and rebuilt heads put on. Now it's "backfiring thru the manifold"
... We re-check the cam setting, the distrib.,the timing, the fuel pump and everything seems to check out. I have stock injectors & stock fuel pump and "FMU" Could this be my problem? I know I won't get full power from my motor right now but that's OK until get pump & injectors!! Compression checks good and fuel pressure checks 41 @ idle. Any thing we might be over looking??

you sure you didnt spin the balancer, that could be causing you to read the timing incorrectly, thus making it back fire

also be careful, you have a VERY high chance of running lean and blowing up your engine with stock fuel stuff

Yes. Do you even know if you have enough fuel pressure?

I read presure needed to read 39 & 41 @ idle and the guy who is doing the work said it was reading 41. Could I "bypass" the Supercharger some kinda of way, leave it all hooked up and drive it and then later when I get the injectores & 255 fuel pump, hook it back up?...

"Thanks guy's for all you help"

What do you have for intake and heads? The running pressure of 41 is ok, however, how do you know what it is when you're at WOT? You should have this run on a dyno so everything can be watched as it's happening. DO NOT drive it under heavy load until you have resolved the issue. Ppl thing they can just slap a blower on a car and go. This is not the case. Trust me, I know.

Well, it's like this, you're trying to make a budget blower set up. I feel ya on the money thing but some things CAN"T be skimped on. The fuel system is one of those things. I spent a lot of $$$ making my car run right. The stock stuff just didn't cut it. 42# injectors, 75mm blow thru mass air, 255 in tank and an in line external pump, MSD timing retard box and a custom burned multi tune chip and dyno time. Probably some other crap I can't think of right now too.
