No s**t, under 1k? Anybody in the Bay Area CA know of a good place to pick up high performance accessories without ordering online? Thanks for the info, mdvaldosta. I'm going to check into to all the above. I've got some cash to burn.

fang.. there are all kinds of shops out here in the Bay. Personaly i just ask around when i see anothr mustang like mine and say hey, where did u get that from? mustang owners have a sort of unspoken creed to help eachother out. I know like in pleasanton.. there are shops that are strictly for stangs.. just look in the phone book. Go in talk to them face to face and try to work something out. the more you buyfrom a shop.. the cheaper things seem to get out here.

im not sure, but id imagine you have to look pretty hard to get all that under 1k. not saying its impossible, or even not probable, its just that dont do around thinking that all that is gonna be easy (like just opening a catalog andfinding it right there)to find under a grand. i could be wrong tho...

everything he listed would come used...i know you can get a explorer or gt40 for around 300 used, cam i have no idea, full off road its gonna be around 400-500 but the gears are gonna be somewhat expensive i would quote that set-up at around 1500, it coulddone for 1k if you get it from people on forums like this one, if you talk to the right people.

That set-up isnt a for sure camaro killer tho seeing that I have full off-road exhuast gt40 intake X Cam and 3.73 gears, you can take a stock camaro more than likley but throw a couple mods on that camaro ie.exhaust and gears and your done with and back to where you started.

The best way to beat one is with a Charger or nitrous. I know you guys were wanting to stay away from that but with SS's coming close to the 12's stock, you need some horsepower. Not only do you need horsepower, but you need to get it to the ground. I've noticed not many people mention that. A good set of ET streets or Drag radials makes a world of difference on these cars. A good set of lower control arms isn't a bad idea either. That will allow you to remove those silly quad shocks and not have to worry about the wheel hop.

Removing the front sway bar, serpintine belt to bybass the smog pump and power steering. Oh, and let me say it again. GET SOME GOOD TIRES.

Believe me a great hole shot makes up for a lot of horsepower on the street. If the camaro has a lot of stuff done to it, you'd have to spend some money to beat them. Taking out a Z-28 isn't all that hard.

depends on what year camaro.. say an 82 camaro with a 4cylinder aint gonna be competition.. but a 98+ LS-1 equipped cars are FAST, and you would need prolly a turbo or blower/supercharger and nitrous to even touch one

And just because a tire has a Z rating doesn't mean it's going to be really sticky.

This freakin cold weather is great for power (especially my buddy's WRX) but it sucks because my tires are frozen and they just liquify. Can't get traction anywhere.

By good tire I of course mean ET streets. I don't even bother with anything else...

Depends on the Camaro you're up against. Third gens are a joke. You can blow them away with a good tune up. The LT1 cars are not as bulletproof as many think. They start running alot slower once they're hot. The intake sits very low and doesn't keep cool like the nice elavated runners on our 5.0s. The cooling system isn't the greatest either. To make it work, GM had to make it reverse flow. Once they get hot and detonation comes into play, the computer yanks all the timing away and the Camaro's power goes down the toilet. Now the new LS1 cars are tricky. Honestly, these guys are right. A blower or juice are the simplest solution to these monsters.
