Maybe the car had a T-5 transplant....A9L came stock with the 5 speeds, A9M with the AOD's....A9M will work fine with a T-5, it just controled yhe shift points of the AOD...Pull the computer out and see which one you have (disconnect the battery first )

I'll look a little more for an A9M.bin file, then we can look at what the real differences are.

It sounds like the A9M may be pretty similar to the A9P though?

Anyone compared .bins?

i cant be sure ...i tryed to look at the old carfax and tried decoding the vin but niether was able to confirm that it was a stock 5spd

but i did just completely disassemble the car and it looked stock ...considering everything else was almost completely stock i would find it hard to believe that someone would have went through all the work to change it to a 5 spd and done nothing else ...and i also think that i would have noticed some where along the line that it had originally been an auto but not sure

the computer says a9m though ...plug was gray if that tells you anything

the AOD is not an electronicaly controlled trans the AOD-E is and those use the EEC-V. An a9m will work with a manual trans it does however have more initial timing advance so watch out for knock and minor drivability issues like surging and bucking in some cases depending on your mod list.
