340 HP with GT40 stuff? Damn I hope my setup makes that but I highly doubt it.

here is a copy and past from a message an old friend sent me today. let me know what you guys think about this set up:

Hey sorry It took me a little while to answer is getting hected at work, the engine was my daily driver it has 7000 mileson it 347 strocker motor, trick flow heads, lunati cam 520 lift with 1.7 rockers stud mounted 10 to 1 compresion made for nitrouse, holly systemax intake, heads and intake have been ported, 398 HP to the wheels with long tube 1 3/4 headers and t5 tranny and 4.11 gears car ran 11.20s on motor and 93 octane gas. Never got a chance to install the charger or nitrouse to it. That's what the 408 is In there for now. I am going to put it on craiglist for 2,000. Complete, just the heads alone are 1,000.00 the intake is 550.00 the shortblock cost me 1800.00 still have the papers from who built it. The rockers are 200. The cam was 250. Almost 4000 just in parts, including a set of short tube headers.

Youre major draw back is the stock heads, you might as well change those and while your at it, put cam and intake on it.

How much money were you looking to spend? Obviously when it comes to horsepower, you have to pay to play, sadly. I know you're straying from Nitrous, but how about a used supercharger from Vortech, Paxton, etc. You can get them for relatively cheap, around $1500. I bought mine used for $1900. It's just another option, plus it's a lot easier to install than an H/C/I package. And provided you keep your car stock, you can make do with your stock 19lb injectors. All you need is a 255lph fuel pump($100). Vortech claims 319hp and 375tq. This is rated at the flywheel.
