Why are you only looking at those to manufacturers?

Trick Flow
Canfield
Brodix

All make just as good or better heads in the eyes of some.

MJR, I am not rich by no means. I have a house full of kids, with all the notes and payments that comes with having a family if you know what I mean.

I have had my eyes on a set of AFR's for this build for a few months now. One of my friends was bragging to me the other night about a set of Victor Jr heads he has, they have had some P/P work done to them. But I can't tell a lie, I have had my heart on a set of AFR heads for some time. I talked to one of the Kotzur Racing Engines guys earlier this year at a FFW show in Houston and he was going over a few choices with me and between what he told me and what I want to do. I think the AFR 225, heads will be more than enough.

If everyone must know. My father had a 1978 Malibu that ran 10 teens average 135 in the 1/4mile. I am trying to outrun his times with less cubic inches, his was 482cid, just for bragging rights on my end. Again this is just between him and I, and I want to rub a little salt in his wound when I surpass his best E.T.

This is the camshaft the guy at Comp Cams recommended to me with my set up. Long story short, I told him the car would be around 2900-3000lbs with me in it. Mildly high compression, around 12.5 to 1 or so. I will run another C4 form Redneck Performance, around 4500-5000 rpm stall and somewhere around 4.10-4.30 gear. What ever I can get away with to outrun by fathers old time of his Malibu.

The following is a 395W stroker with prepped Canfield 195's, SR CI custom cam, Pro-System carb, 100% N/A, 5-speed setup, Team-Z suspension........ 6.38@111.23 MPH 1/8 mile and 9.92@137.96 MPH 1/4 mile

TFS 225 Hi port's, with a real custom cam and valve train, will fit your bill, with some catch-up space for the "other side" to figure out for a while.

^^^^ That's what Daddy's talking about right there. I won't run a manual tranny though. My bad knee is my left one and it just couldn't take beating in and out of a clutch pedal these days. I am becoming a fan of that magic trans brake button though. It's like dumping the clutch. I know my coupe snatches my head back at the track when I launch.

I have been thinking real hard about using camshaft innovations for a custom solid roller. I have heard many good things from here and other websites about them.

He's surely got his stuff together. His car runs very well. I won't run a chevy tranny in a ford car though. I don't give a dam how much faster it will make the car. I believe you run a Ford in a Ford and a Chevy in a Chevy. I'm not into taboo stuff personally. Not that I haven't seen or been around a bunch of cars that haven't been that way, because I have. It's different strokes for different folks. I want to run an all Ford driveline just for my own personal satisfaction. My Father of course had a narrowed 9" under his malibu, that he done all the work himself. I helped him narrow the rear end and mock up the stock axles for some measurements. He then sent off to Mosier I believe and got a set from them. I was planning on staying with a 8.8" rear end also. All I want to do is out run his Best E.T. If I run a 10.10, that will be fast enough, it would only be icing on the cake if it busted off into the 9 second index.

i have a set of LT's from accufab, 1 3/4 to 3in collector, they are $600 new from accufab. they have 2 holes on the plate, one for the stock 302 location, and the other im guessing is the wide pattern.

The High ports are worth the money spent for what you are looking to do. Heck you can even run the 205 TW head and be more than happy and will not need to buy "special headers".
