5.0 donor car?

5.0 donor car?
i have a 1996 mustang that was once a 3.8 and is now a 5.0.... however the engine seems to be on its way out.... i need to know what cars would have the 5.0.... im pretty sure it would have to be at least a 96 or newer.... im not looking for anything special just another motor.... im not sure exactly what year is in now, but the car passes emissions.... thanks for any help

that probably wouldnt give me any problems with emissions inspections right?, i think the engine in it now is from an explorer but idk.... can u get away with an older engine in a newer car? the car is a pita, with this swap, but i love it and dont want to part with it.... i live in new york where they hook up a computer to ur car... i know a guy that will inspect it, but he still has to hook up a computer to it.... im not exactly sure what that checks, check engine light, i know but other than that, im not sure if that checks the exhaust

???dunno how they'd hook up a computer to your car with the conversion cause that's what they do to obd II cars and yours in theroy should have that done since it is a 96, however depending on the efi conversion done it should be obd I and hooking up an obd II connector would be useless unless of course all they do is just want to check for codes than obd I can provide such
...as for a motor, you need to find one from any 87-95 mustang or h.o motor as the h.o cams firing order is key to SEFI injection and proper running

i appriciate the info! I'm gunna try and get ahold of the old owner and ask what he exactly did, then at least ill have a better idea of whats in there.... Im not real familiar with 3.8 to 5.0 swap and i know its not a common thing
