be a good idea to pick up a new set if you have the funds, gt40's gt40p's. re working stockers is kind of a waste.

i'll sell you mine if you dont want to spend the money reworking yours. new valve springs on em, they are on the car now and they work.

you can get a set easy for 300-400 but you'll have to do some searching. if you find a set in the j/y it'll run you 110 for the set here in iowa. thats if they charge by weight. some j/y's know what they are and charge like 250. ebay is tough to get a set cheap especially when you factor in shipping. tri state cylinder head sell them completely reworked shipped for 500 bucks. so that'd probably be out for you. and no you dont need a tune for anything HCI wise to get it to run right.

i think what hes referencing is having a valve job done and new valve guides put in. not something you'd be able to do yourself and you'd have to take it to a place.

96 to 97 1/2 explorer and i think 96 mountaineers too.

How do you know if the head is an actual gt40 if you pick it up from a j/y?
