Default 28oz or 50oz balance

Hey guys....hoping someone can help me out here. I've got a '90 302 stroked out to 354" using the Eagle rotating assembly. It was already in the car when I acquired it. I'm fixing to drop the LS1 6-speed off into it but before I can order the twin disc setup for it I need to know if it's a 28oz. balance or a 50oz. balance. I can see on the front hub that it's obviously weighted on one side. Is there an easy way to tell by looking at the front hub or the flywheel as to what balance it may have?

Thanks...Dave

99.999999% percent its 28oz, you will not find many 50oz 3.400 based engines, put up a pic of the counterweight on the balancer, thats an easy way to tell

Will do....as soon as I get the chance. I'm a little worried now....I just found out that supposedly all the 4340 cranks from Eagle are suppose to be 0 balance. But will get the pic. Is there also a weight on the flywheel for the 28oz. setups. Oh....and the weight isn't actually on the balancer....it just looks like hub on the front of the crank but behind the balancer..... I'll try and get the pic tonight.

If it's a 354 that would make it .070 over. Maybe a 352 (.060) but if it is an Eagle rotating assembly and has a counter weight it's 28 oz. It would have a Cast Steel crank if it's weighted. Eagle 4340 Forged steel cranks are internally balanced.

You prob have the hub from something like an ATI super damper on the end. You may want to ask the seller if he has the rest of it.

It's a 3.47 stroke with a .030 over bore and not the 3.4 stroke. It does have the ATI Super Dampner on it. The car is complete and driving and runs smooth....so I wouldn't think I'm missing anything.

Ok....just got off the phone with my brother (who is currently under the car) and he can see on the balancer that it's a 0 balance dampner from ATI with the ATI hub. Thanks for the help and sorry for the confusion. I'm new to the Ford setups and doing a lot of research on parts and such.

Thanks again....

These are common, the 3.47 crank is what was used a decade ago for the original 355 inch strokers, I build a few dozen 357 inchers per year in mexican blocks, nothing new here. Every eagle 4340 forged crank is not internally balanced.

Honestly not sure on what block everything was built on. Can you give me a hint as to what to look for?

3.47 may be common but not the most optimal in a factory 5.0 roller block made in 1990. I was just curious if it was a production or sportsman block. I've never seen an eagle 3.40 stroke 4340 crank that wasn't internally balanced. The only 4340 forged crank Ive seen that eagle used that was externally balanced for a SBF was a 3.100 stroke.
