Default hoisting engine?

I pulled the 2.3 engine out of my old fox, and it had a hook to attach to my engine hoist, and i didn't care about banging it up cause it was garbage to me. However, i need to hoist up my nice new pretty 5.0 with long tubes without ****ing anything up in order to replace the passenger side header gasket due to an exhaust leak. The long tubes i have stick out so close to the inner fender that i have no room to get the old gasket out of place to put the new one in. How should i go about getting the engine up enough so that i have room to do this? where should i hook up the hoist to? Thanks.

you cant.........with the engine swing you are gonna hit side to side. you have to take them off and put them in after the engine is seated....BUT you could get lucky...

Just unbolt the header from the block and the midpipe. Afterward you should be able to move it around enough to replace the gasket.

That is the way to go, and if you have true dual exhaust, you can usually get away with just taking a hanger off and moving the header out towards the fender well. That's what I did. I also usually upgrade the header bolts and buy the gaskets with the little hooks on the end, so you can get them in place easier. Just make sure everything is in the right place before cranking any bolts down.

like i said in my original post, there is NO room with my long tubes, they stick out TO the inner fender well. and the gaskets that came with the car are damn near melted on, i replaced the driver side already and had to scrape and sand to get that bitch off.

Thus, i NEED to get the engine up. Also, i unbolted the header from the midpipe and couldn't wiggle it out through the bottom or the top of the car.

That being said... will someone please let me know how to get the motor up a few inches safely? Thanks

some companys offer a plate that hooks up to your mannifold so you could buy one that will hook up to that and use a picker to lift it up

yeah i understood that the engine was already out!!! and you were putting it back in. you should be able to raise it with a plate. un bolt the trans crossmember and engine mounts and up ya go. should be relatively straight forward. My bad
