Default GT40

Gentlemen (and, possibly, ladies):

I've got a bunch of questions regarding the GT40 intake.

I currently have a standard Mustang GT 5.0 upper and lower intake and standard injectors on my engine (in a '74 Bronco). I'm doing some work on the engine, and I just discovered that my upper intake is cracked, so I'm thinking about going ahead and switching to the GT40 upper and lower. My questions are:

1) Is the Explorer upper and lower intake assembly taller than the stock Mustang intake assembly? If so, by how much?

2) Will the fuel rails and injectors from the stock Mustang fit the Explorer intake?

3) If I chose to use the 24 lb. injectors from the Explorer, would this require any other mods such as computer, fuel pump, etc.?

4) Will the heater plumbing from the stock Mustang fit this intake?

5) Will my stock throttle body attach to the Explorer upper intake.

I'm currently running the stock 5.0 shortblock (new from Ford Racing) with AFR 165 heads, E303 cam and Ford Racing (Crane) 1.7 rockers. After two years, my head gasket has failed at number four cylinder. The fire ring is, for some unknown reason, separated from the gasket and extruded inward toward the center of the bore about 1/8". Does anyone have any recommendations on a better head gasket than the Fel-Pro 1011-1?

I welcome any other recommendations.

Thanks much

1. not much= it'll fit under stock hood
2. yes
3. no ecm mod just maf calibrated for 24's
4.yes, shouldn't affect it, just transfer proper fittings over
5. yes but I'd get a matched TB
1011-1 0R -2 IS FINE..never had a failure in all my use of it, you need to check deck and head surface for trueness

yup get a straight edge and a feeler gauge and check the engine and heads make sure nothing has warped. you might as well change the cam to something more aggressive while your at it. those heads can came more than an e303

Thank you gentlemen for the information. I'm taking the heads in tomorrow for a check and resurfacing, if necessary.

Is there any advantage, all else remaining the same, of my going to the bigger injectors? How does one get the MAF recalibrated for the larger injector?

Thanks
