shifting problem in 1990 gt

Default shifting problem in 1990 gt

i have a 1990 mustang gt and i just got a problem with shifting out of 4th.
some dude in a civic wanted to race so we dug, and after the race i went to shift out of 4th and it wouldnt budge, now it wont go in to 1st 2nd 3rd 5th
i have to jam it into reverse and it easily falls right into 4th.

can anyone help me out or maybe tell me what got screwed up

check the cable , if it's okay you may have broke a shift rail/fork and the issue most likely will be internal as long as the clutch is okay

thanks for the help, i took the mustang to a high performance ford place by my house and there fixing it and throwin a ford racing clutch, short throw shifter, light weight flywheel, and some drilled rotors

how does that fix your shifting issue? are they going to fix the trans too?

I wish I had the money to just break a trans and then replace pretty much everything that has to do with the it and more.
You broke some things in your trans. Might as well have them throw a rebuild kit in there to replace the synchros and what not. Hell for what you are having done you might as well went with a TKO to set yourself up for a better platform for mods.
