Default Clutch Cable Troubles....

Hey guys i appreciate all the help you've given me so far. Right now I'm having a problem with my clutch cable. I just installed a new steeda double hook clutch quadrant and my problem is:

When the cable is on the hook closest to the firewall, the cable is too lose and does not disengage the clutch. When on this hook and I'm under the car I can take the end of the clutch cable and move it on and off the bracket easily.

When the cable is on the hook furthest from the firewall, the cable is way to tight, it wont even reach the bracket under the car.

My clutch is a standard factory cable.

My car is an 84 gt.

Any help would be great!

I just went ahead and bought a firewall adjuster online from steeda, hopefully this fixes it.

You have to have either an adjustable cable or a firewall adjuster to work w/ a double hook quadrant. There has to be some way of adjusting the cable length.

if your cable isn't adjustable, and you need a quick fix you can always space out the end of the cable from the fork with washers..

Yeah, I would much rather adjust my clutch by crawling under the car than doing it from under the hood

Please explain your thought process.
