Default Intermittent backfire/hesistation

The car has developed some hesitation and sometimes a backfire at 5k rpms plus. This all started yesterday when I was beating on the car and it backfired really loud. The car isnt showing any codes, timing is good. Any pointers? tips?

I've had the same problem. Only when the car warms up and I'm going down the highway at 70 mph it will stutter or stall, when it catches it will backfire too. Others suggested TFI module, maybe the coil's going out. Definately an ignition issue. Backfire says it's getting fuel.

This seems like a great kit from Performance Distributors, has anyone used this or know anything about it? [URL="http://http://www.performancedistributors.com/5.0ignition.htm"]

dizzy and TFI were replaced when I put the motor in. I know you can test the tfi, but what can I do with the dizzy?

I believe you can check the pick up coil with an ohm meter. I'd run the TFI down to autozone before that though.

My 91 fox body was doing the same thing and still is. I had a thread up about it earlier, here is the link. https://mustangforums.com/forum/5-0-...5-000-rpm.html hope it might help you out a bit.

Not sure if this link will help, but hopefully at least point you in the right direction in testing the pick up.

well I pulled the spout connecter out, advanced the timing to 36 degrees and made like 10 6k pulls with no stuttering/backfiring
