Does it just make the noise when it cranks over or will it make that noise with the clutch pushed in all the time?

The metal to metal noise only happens on start up.

Does it stop when you let off of the switch?

Yep, it goes away when I take my foot off the clutch after startup. Then the squeaking noise starts. Sounds like a little bird, lol.

Not sure. Don't think I've even not started it up on the first try. If I were to guess, I'd say it probably doesn't make that noise if I let off the switch.

I'm not for sure but my guess are the start up sound maybe a bad starter or flywheel grinding, or a throwout bearing. The noise you are hearing when you let out on the clutch maybe a rough bearing in the transmission. Its kind of hard to tell what a noise is when someone describes it. I recommend you take it to a reputable shop in your area and have them check it out though.

Thanks FT! That's probably what I'll end up having to do.

No problem. If I could hear it I could tell you what it was its hard to guess by description it even hard to guess when someone makes the noise their self (which can be funny) you just need to hear it to tell what it is fof sure.
