96 Maxima 5speed v.s. older 5.
I have a friend that has a Maxima with Stillen Air intake only and runs a 15.1 or 15.2
Thats fast enought to beat a stock auto GT or a 5 speed if the guy cant drive.
Otherwise, I would bet on the GT in the 1/4, but the Maxima on the hwy.

I also do not own a stang. I know of MANY turbo'd Saturns that will eat toys and hamsters alive in Auto-X. We have an amazing, and rare thing in I4's...torque.

Out of curiosity, how much torque do they have? I'm running ~120hp/120tq stock..lol..

we all understand that your not trying to rip on anyone, but this a mustang forum the last time i checked, and no one here wants to hear a story from a maxima owner about how he beat down a 5.0. especially a story that's not completely acuate.

He's been driving for a couple months but I've seen the way he drives. I was with him when we lost to a Mercedez AMG. He tried to downshift to 1st while rolling at 20mph?!? I was like, what are you doing, shift to 2nd not 1st.
<hr></blockquote>
He was correct to downshift to 1st at 20 mph if he has stock gears. The point is to start in the powerband or you're gonna lose. And if you think your Maxima feels faster than the 5.0, then either somethings wrong with the car, or you don't know how to drive either.

I really don't see a reason to doubt his story. Maxima's and Mustangs are pretty evenly matched and a slightly modded Maxima should be able to take a stock or close to stock Mustang.
I've raced two GT's, one was a mid 80s and we were even on the highway from 60-118 when I hit my limiter. The other was at the track, I ran against a early 90s stang with intake, exhaust, MSD ignition, ect. He ran a 14.8 to my 15.3 and all I have is an intake.
For cars that are relatively even in performance, I will take the comfort and reliability of the Maxima over the rattles of the Mustang.

The '96 GT I just drove (*drool*) wasn't rattling...had a small exhaust leak, I think...but I was very happy..

Hey, we're all entitled to our own opinions, but just because you don't know anything about a certain car, don't group it with all the other jap cars, 'cause they are not all the same.
Gus, anytime you want, I'll let the Maxima show your green 'vert a thing or two about speed.
