Default Removing the low oil sensor

It there any reason why I shouldn't delete the low oil sensor that is located on the oil pan? It is just one more wire and sensor that I need to worry about. If I remove it, does it do anything other than possibly turning a low oil indicator light on?

I'd keep it since it is already there but it it goes bad and you don't want it don't fix it. If you unplug it the light should not come on.

I took mine off, it was leaking around the wire. I had my oil pan off one time for some reason and I welded a plug in it.
