Rough idle / cycling IAC

Rough idle / cycling IAC
Hey all,
maybe can explain this problem to me. I have recently spruced up my 88 Mark VII LSC. New plugs, new intake gaskets and lower intake-to-cylinder head gaskets. New spark plugs, fresh oil, fresh filter, semi flushed radiator and cleaned the injectors. The car had been parked for 3 years before this.
Now when I start the car without giving gas, the engine dies. After about 30 seconds it will stay on, but as soon as it tries to go to idle, the engine stutters and I think the IAC compensates and the engine surges to around 1,500 RPM. It keeps doing this for about a minute to a minute and a half. After that it appears to warm up enough and idles normally.
My TPS was set to 1.2, I set it to .97 Volts, fuel filter has not yet been changed and I also did a quick lights off test of the ignition system to test for current leaks. I have yet to touch the timing as I usually use 95 Octane on this island.
The only 2 things I can think of is 1. maybe the fuel filter is a bit clogged after all those years. Although it might make no sense as it has nothing to do with cold engine stuttering. And 2. After uninstalling and reinstalling the manifold, the vacuum lines running under the manifold have developed small cracks at their ends. Other than that I don't know what can be causing this as I have both cleaned the injectors AND changed the plugs. As soon as I get my Equus 3145 scanner I'll do a balance check.
Are there any of you in the Miami area who can confirm that they sell these at Wal-Marts? It says so in Equus' website.
Thanks,
Xander

RE: Rough idle / cycling IAC
You wouldn't beleive it. I checked my timing today finally after sanding off excess rust and it's set all the way to 24 degrees! As I finish this post I'm going downstairs to set it back to an initial 10 degrees. Is there such thing as a too high an octane. In the 88 Lincoln Mark VII's alldata there's a TSB about it. But it's an old TSB and maybe the newer high octane fuels are a bit different.
