ok ive been planning on going 4 disk for a while, just keeping an eye out for a good 94-98 8.8 axle. Well a guy on my local CL is selling a 93 cobra rear, which would convert my rear to disk but keep it 4 lug.


Is there any real reason for the 5 lug set up besides tire selection...and were the cobra axles 28 or 31 spline?

tire selection and a much larger selection of rims is the main reason guys do it, as far as axle spline count im pretty sure its still 28

as stated tire selection, only spline count upgrade will add strength as a majority rule

5 lug is obviously stronger. cant tell u how many times at the drag strip someone w/ 4 lug axles breaks all their studs off. while u are in there u might as well do c-clip eliminators. never fun to have ur wheel/axle pass u after a launch
