Question Wiring altenator to a switch

Anyone know how to wire the altenator to a switch, so it can be turned on/off?? I have the factory altenaor on my 5.0, and need to bypass the harness and run it directly to the batteries or marine switch (batt 1, both, Batt 2)
thanks,
Art

Here is a diagram of the charging system:

Been thinking it over and not sure how you would direct wire in and charge both batteries with the alts internal regulator. I can see a switch to change from A to B, or wire the batts in parallel, but note on having both wired in at once.
What are you doing that will require the spare?

all you need to do is use straps to connect the two batteries together and run the charge wire to the one battery

no, if you wire them in series then yes but in your case you need to wire them in parrallel which will double your capacity but voltage output will remain at 12.6 v

i understand wiring in series and parallel, i am trying to figure out a way to avoid over charging the first battery in line. kind of like an inline voltage regulator between the two batteries

maybe if you wired your batteries like this and throw your switch in where you need it. I dont know if the alternator could handle this setup but if it did it should charge both at the same rate. You may have to go up to a heavy duty alt. It may work but I have never tried it.

Note: I accept no liability if anyone tries this, it is just an idea and I have never tried it. Please do not blame me if something bad happens.

If anyone knows a better way or needs me to change the drawing to make a good actual representation I can just let me know what to do.
