Default proper way to break in engine/cam (roller cam)(new engine)

its a brand new engine.. 1996 reman engine from ford (5.0HO) Gt40 heads
im doing a cam swap..


how to break in the engine and cam ?? run normal for 1000 miles??

Check for leaks, 1 heat cycle, stomp on it. 100 Miles change oil, cut filter open, if all is well. Drive like you normally would.

I completely agree with the two previous posters...

I cut open two oil filters, because im paranoid... no flecks or flakes, so I whoop the crap out of it

+1, but i also do a 500 mile oil change as well. ive got about 30 miles on my current motor and its been under boost/wot 10+ times. the rings need to seat and thatll only happen if you put it under heavy load. i read somewhere that the first 25 miles are the most important so beat on it before you hit 25miles

ohhh soo beat on it..? i tought i had to drive like a sissy for 500 miles... but beat on it but not high rpms right? im gonna set the limiter at 4000 for safe for the first 100 miles

I run them for about thirty minutes on conventional oil and break in lube while checking for leaks and a few trips around the block. Pull the filter and check it. Change the oil with a good synthetic and good filter then go out and bounce it off the rev limiter. Ive built engines on Sat Morning and run them WFO Sat Night at the strip.

when finish.. all that.. i was thinking of setting the limiter at 6000 and shift at 5500 is that good?
