Default Fuel Level Guage doesnt work

Well i just bought a 1988 T-Top mustang that needs some work mainly TLC but the fuel level guage doesnt work, has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it. I think it could me the sending unit in the tank im just trying to find out if there could be some other reason for it not working.
Thanks in advance

It could be the sending unit, but the gauges in our year model suck *****. Get a mechanical one and you will know what the levels are at, every time, 100% of the time. My gauges were funky every time i turned the car on, sometimes i would be full sometimes empty, shut the car off then back on and it's completely different. lol. all was fixed with mechanical gauges!

well heres the thing the guy i bought it from did the sn95 conversion to it so i wanted to use those guages since he installed it. i check the wires and its wired up right. i gave him a call and he said the guage stoped working before he did the conversion so im thinking its the sending unit.

I would replace the sending unit. Its not that hard or expensive. The only thing that sucks is if its not it you cant return it!

Yes, suck a bunch of gas out of it and take both the straps off. Then drop the tank and pull the sending unit and put the new one in. If you have any questions or need help just ask!!

The fuel Sender is the problem you just need to drop the tank and slip in a new one.No more than a 1 hour job if your tank is not full of fuel.
