Default 347 build?

heres my dilema im wondering if its worth building up a 302 to a 347 stroker or would i be better off jus getting a 351? which would have more power if they both ran flat tops with gt40 heads which would be around 9.1 or 9.5 with a decent low to mid cam and a dual plane intake whjat do you guys think im trying to do this on a budget so keep that in mind

Mines a 347 from a 302. Forged Block with Lunati cam and Gt40 heads

A 347 has a definate advantage WHEN keeping the windsor stock stroke, with that said, they both will be severely hampered with a GT40 head

how do you get a 347 with "windsor stock stroke"?? you cant underbore a 351 unless you sleeve it, and a 302 based needs a 3.40" stroke to get to a 347 with a .030" bore...unless youre just changing the rod length, but wouldnt that run the pistons into the heads?? im just wondering

and either way, granted you are on a budget but either a GT40p or a GT40x head will hamper the performance potential. your best bet would be at least a 185cc head to get all the airflow that engine would need to perform to its max

Let me rephrase, the 347 has a definate advantage when you are staying with the stock stroke (3.500) in the windsor.

All parts being the same, and compression being equal.... the 347 will overpower the 351 every time, will rev faster, and will run the car faster
