High Volume Water Pump vs Stock Volume
benefits, i mena i can obviously say that it will probably cool the car better... but will the high volume have a shorter life span or cause issues with anything?

When I ran stock style water pumps, as long as the cooling system was functioning the way it was designed to, I never had an issue with cooling, IMO the stock pump is sufficient on stock to mild builds

^^^^you never really need to, I have seen full on drag cars running a standard belt driven pump, electric is for those who wanna max out/use every bit of availible hp for ET........so as to not create HP robbing drag of accessories such as P/S, SMOG, AND WATER PUMP.......AND FOR all on strip cars some delete the ALT

I run Edelbrock Victor high flow mechanical water pumps on any street car I've owned over the last 15 years. I've never had one go bad. Even though they pump more coolant they actually pick up a very small amount of power because the cool the heads so much better. Like was said before on most street cars a NEW stock style pump will be fine. You can buy a new quality pump from NAPA for just a few dollars more than a rebuilt unit which I would never consider using.
I'm not a huge fan of electric water pumps on street cars. I like them on strip cars because you can turn the fans and the pump on and cool your engine down quick in the pits. On street cars you just don't lose that much power running a manual pump over an electric. On a 500 hp 383 Chevy on the dyno we only gained 3 HP at 6500 rpm using a Meziere Electric pump over a Stewart High Vloume pump.
The most important thing is just don't buy a rebuilt pump.

what their not telling you is with a high flow pump in day to day driving isn't the best way, why? because it has less time to dissipate heat thur your radiator. so unless you have at least a 3 row brass one I see little help.... one thing good about those clutch/stock fans are the do great at low speed and don't rob alot of hp after 35 mph but, they are hard on water pumps..if you go with a electric fan the you will have to upgrade your alt... I use one of those noisy *** flex fan
