Default grinding 4th, could sloppy stock shifter be problem?

hey guys, I think the synchro for 4th in my t5 is going fast but I was just curious, could it be from the sloppy stock shifter? I was thinking of goin with any short throw, just so there wouldn't be slop. Anyone have grinding problems that went away with short throws? It seems like its a possibility but I don't wanna drop almost $200 for a short shifter and then be that much further from being able to afford a rebuilt trans or rebuild mine.
thanks in advance

is your shifter sloppy?? if the issue is only in one gear, it is a problem centalized there a sloppy shifter would affect all gears most likely

my shifter does feel really sloppy but it could be because my last mustang had a pro 50 shifter. ya thats what I thought but I was thinking maybe the previous owner could have jammed it into 4th really hard and bent something but that probably wouldn't be the shifter, it would have been a shift fork right?

bent shift fork would effect more than one gear since there is only 2 shift forks for 1st-4th.

sounds like a blocker ring/syncro issue. most likely blocker ring.

thats what I was trying to avoid but I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer and either rebuild it or buy a new one.
thanks for your help.
