I have a 90 LX 5.0 and the speedmeter does not work. I have 373 gears and looked up and purchased he correct cable gear and installed it in the transmission. I can spin the speedo gear which slips into the trans just fine, but the speedo does not move at all... Anyone had a similar problem? Is this a speedo cable problem or is the meter itslef broken? Any ideas how to diagnose this problem?

Yea - I actually placed a new gear in it and the speedo still did not budge. I am thinking it is either a broken cable or the speedometer is broken...

is the gear inside the tranny still clipped in place on the output shaft??? shine a small light in and look with a mirror, then undo the dash end and put tranny end back together and drive it and see if cable turns if all is well to that point = bad head unit
