Default Auto A9M ECU in a manual??

Hello,

I just discovered that the ECU in my '89 is an A9M. According to an online listing, this is an automatic ECU. My car is manual, how will this affect drivability and tune? Can the A9M be fooled to act like a manual ECU? What's the difference?

Thank you!

they work fine, I once had an a9p in my car as well, the only thing I noticed was when I put it in gear the rpms would jump up.. which my a9l doesnt do

I believe that the main differnce in the two ECU's is in the spark advance at a given RPM.. But i have heard of several people having the A9p in a 5 speed car and not being able to tell a difference..
