The reason you see turbo kits going for anywhere from 3-5 grand is because they're made with quality parts. The eBay turbo kits I've seen are junk, excessive shaft play on the turbos straight out of the box and turbo manifolds that look like they were welded by Ray Charles just to name a couple things.

Just because you see a t3/t4 on eBay in no way means it's the same thing you see on a site that sells turbo kits. You get what you pay for.

In the case with the ebay turbo kits, you get what you pay for. Everything Sonic Blue says is correct. Although the parts may look nice, they are junk. They are made in China. The Hotside of the kit is made with T304 stainless and welded poorly, along with probably being a thin 18 gauge tubing. They WILL crack in short time. For turbo systems you want a mild steel. Some other issues include leaks in the intercooler and, poor quality clamps, etc. The ebay brand turbo kits are poorly warranted and many times, the kits never come fully complete. Check the Turboforums. They'll tell you all the negatives. The cheapest turbo kit you'll find is B&G. Still, you won't get out of there for under $3 grand. But at least you know what you are getting. My suggestion would be to find a used Vortech or Paxton supercharger. You can find them for under 2 grand. Check Corral.net out.

I was going to mention the Boost Brothers kits. However, they're a brand new company, so there's no feed back from customers. And from what I have heard, their parts too, are made in China. It's why they can sell it so cheap.

so many things wrong with this statement.

its not a good kit, and it is made of Chinese crap. go to their site, they dont tell you who makes any of the parts, know what that means, its chinese. if they ran good parts in their kit they would tell you and brag about it. they dont tell you what type of stainless they use for the hot side piping, know what that means? its piece of sh*t 304 stainless which wont handle the heat cycles a turbo kit puts on headers.

the cheapest good kits (which ironically is one of the best kits) is B&G starting at about $3500. do not buy an ebay turbo kit they are all made of 304 stainless steel and none of them are complete.

that $1100 kit you see, i guarrenty you still need to fabricate exhaust from the turbo back, plus they do no apear to give enough cold side piping. they give you 2 external waste gates but no place to mount them. you get a blow off valve but no where to mount that. this means welding and if you cant do it, youll have to pay some one else. on top of that you will still need fuel injectors, a fuel pump and a new maf.
