Default 83 Mustang gt help!

I have a 1984 mustang 5.0 5- Speed and Im having a problem starting the car.... The car started then idled good... then died... then sometimes wont even start..... It has a performer 600 edelbrock on it.... The guy i bought it from said it has a bad accelerator pump in it but i thought that would just cause the car to bog.... I looked at the firing order and everything.... The car has 123000 miles on it but was rebuilt at 100000 and it says to use the 351 W firing order but they are the same..... I dont know what to do next..... Rebuild carb? It smells like its getting gas.... and gas is in the fuel filter.... and smell it in carb... but then pulled out one plug and looked dry? Help please.

IS your timing correct? There are 2 firing orders for the 5.0, here is a good diagram for them. Get a Holley 600, 4160 or 4150, they are much easier to tune and work with IMO Hope this helps out a little, I dont know alot about cars yet but I am slowly learning. Someone on this forum will have some great answers for you, probably better than mine.

EDIT: The 351W firing order is also the 5.0 HO firing order, I believe

spray some spray start in the carb and see if it'll briefly fire up

then it is a fuel issue....pull the feed line to the carb and run it into a clean milk jug and crank the motor and see if it spits fuel out of the line at a moderate rate...sounds like you have a fuel issue
