Default 88gt rpm regulator?

i think i've heard this on other cars. can i set my 88gt vert to not go over the 5000rpm mark? i believe the correct term is a regulator. do i need a chip or tuner for this application? or is it easier than i'm thinking?

It's a rev limiter. You can do it two ways. Get an aftermarket ignition box that has an adjuatable rev limiter or a chip that will lower the factory rev limit.
