Also when you replace the fluid make sure you are using the correct fluid a lot of people use ordinary ps fluid. Go to motorcraft website http://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.com
type F is used in pre-96 vehicles power steering(use to call for Mercon but regular Mercon is discontinued. Years above 96 use the ps fluid listed in there ps fluid section. The systems will work with other fluids but will whine and foam up more.

thanks a lot for all the help. the pump was leaking between the pulley and the pump exactly where you said. i hope i would have read your post first lol. i was taking off the pump with my brother and we couldnt find the leak and fluid was all over down there. and when we turned the pump to get it out, it began dripping! found it! lol got a new pump on there and its fine. thanks again
