Default Need Help! power steering leak

parked my car and saw a puddle of power steering fluid under it a few hours later. so i parked it over night in the garage and the same thing. i checked the houses and they are not leaking. The bottom of the pump is all wet. Can they have internal leaks? Also its whining like crazy and the fluid is a dirty brownish color.
plz help

Are all your lines tight? Try flushing your system, I havent done it yet but my new PS pump says its pretty easy to flush all the old crap out. especially your high pressure line. If so then take some carb cleaner and wipe down the pump and lines, fill it up and run it to see where its leaking from. If its from the pump I think you can replace just the reservoir but for the work you might as well replace the whole pump, if its from a line just replace both lines at once. Other than that I got nothing, hope that helps.

ok i will flush it tomorrow and see where the leak is coming from. so far i cleaned the lines and crawled down there and had a buddy turn the wheel from side to side but couldnt spot it.

i havent replaced the pump yet because it just started happening, before there was minimal whine only when the wheel was cranked atleast 75 percent or more. although its another reason why i made this post...should i just replace pump and lines asap? anything else i should look at first?

If you flush it and it still makes a god awful whine, replace it. It will only get worse til it locks up or doesnt work anymore. I have seen the whine almost diasppear with a flush though. I heard mustangs are notorious for their PS pump whining.

can the leak come from the pump itself? the bottom of pump and inbetween the pulley are wet. hoses seems fine.

Default Leak

Sounds like its leaking from the little hole they put under the pulley at the factory that lets you know the shaft bearing is gone out.
