water pump pulley wobbling

water pump pulley wobbling

installed some underdrive pulleys about a month ago and now i notice that the water pump pulley is wobbling. i took off pulley and put it back on and aligned everything and it seemed to go away. but today its wobbling again...? Could it just be the pulley, or is it the bearings on the pump?

take the belt off and wiggle the shaft... if there is play. you need a pump

If the pulley isn't cracked at the mounting holes the water pump is bad

ok im going to take it off right now, (as well as the steering pump as in the other post). could it be the fan? its wobbling as well?

the fan runs off the same pulley, so its forced to wobble with it...make sur eits aligned again, and continue to see if the bolts stay tight after u drive it for a while...

fan is bolted to the pump shaft base so check the pump = most likely bad

checked the pump shaft and pulley and both were fine. but the fan clutch seemed to be locking up. so i put the fan out of another mustang and it works fine. no more wobble.
