pull the valve cover's re tighten everything, replace header gasket's, and run some seafoam trough it.

My truck had a crack in the Y-pipe that connected to the passenger side header right at the flange and sounded like a engine tick. Replaced a few inch's of the pipe and the flange and it's good as new. super quiet, and runs ALOT better.

good luck.

You sure it's not an exhaust leak? Make sure you tighten your header bolts. Might need a new gasket.

If you have to stick your ear down that close to the intake pipe to hear what you are trying to hear, it ain't worth worrying about. Trust me, you will know if it is a rocker or bottom end knocking noise. The bottom end noise is the knocking you hear that makes your stomach rumble and gives you the case of the blow *** and rocker noise makes you say WTF is that, Let me post a video and ask someone. I wouldn't worry about it if it isn't that bad.

I have a noise that sounded like a header leak, or a heavy ticking with the idle, it got louder as the rpm's went up. I pulled off my headers and looked at them there was white corrosion on the back one. I replaced the gaskets, put them back on. same noise. It sounds like it is coming from under the intake manifold. I will let you know if I get it fixed and what it is.

on my 94 gt i get kind of worried too because i can hear a very low ticking sound. when im in an area with echo like a bank or drive through you can hear it the best. you can also here it when you put your head under the car better than from the top. everytime im in an echo spot i listen close and when i gas it the little ticking sound goes faster. maybe a lifter or could just be an exhaust leak from when i put my h pipe on.
