i have an 89 gt 5spd and sometimes when i turn the key to first click the batt gauge will be at 14 and when i turn the key to start it will click and drop down to 8 and not even try to start and sometimes if you let the key in the on position it will jump back up then start or jump back down or 15min later it will start or sometimes it wont start all day. the battery is good i can swap batt and doesn't change and terminals are tight does anybody have an idea of what it would be?

check the main positive running to your starter.... sounds like its shorting out
