Default What cam and pistons for new 331 stroker

hey so me and my dad are doing a 331 stroker on my mustang i will be DD for summer and possibly longer!

unfortunately bought a 670 avenger carb and a edelbrock rpm intake so they will ahve to work for now might be able to jet the carb out a bit bigger!

i dont wanna do a custom cam right now id rather get a shelf hydraulic roller cam! so any ideas ?

and will the hypertectic pistons be good for me right now i dont plan on running boost or nos and i think my dad wants the edelbrock rpm heads! So what is the most compression i can get and still run regular gas?

any decent OTS cam will run you 260-270 a custom cam will run you 300 to 325.....the few extra beans IMO are well worth it........and why 331 and not 347?? please don't say the ole ROD rational/ oil burn issue...but if your dead set on an OTS cam comps xe series are decent choices, I'd of used at least a 750 carb

you'd do better with a better choice on the heads, such as a afr 185 or tfs fast as cast head

i know i bought the carb before we decided to do the stroker and cant afford to buy another one so the 670 will work for now wont it?

and i just want a 331 for some reason and it dont help that some one told my dad about the oil burning issue, which cam would you suggest and are the stock lifters safe to reuse?

as for heads i know the AFR 185s are better but my dad is dead set on the edelbrocks lol cuz thats what he has on his nova and hes going halfers on everything with me! but im gonna try and get the afrs if i can! so what about the pistons

Your dad is gonna help you build a 331 that'll get wasted by any well built H/C/I'd 302.......look if your gonna buy a 331 kit at least buy it from here: www.fordstrokers.com Have your dad read this thread: don't waste money on inferior pistons for the stroker, you'll get what you pay for.

I have no idea what places you can purchase from in Canada, all the good stuff I know of is produced here in the US........don't know if you can find something on ebay in your area??, if it were me I'd buy forged pistons in the stroker, as for the rest of the h/c/i???? if your dad is set on the mismatch , you really have no option, it's your dad's money, his perogative, his responsibility

I had no one help build mine, but for what it is worth, not everyone needs help. It is just my opinion.
