now for ots purposes and not having a degree wheel, lets say before removal did you line the cam gears up dot to dot?? and vise versa for install of new cam,, e-cam with stock valvetrain hardware and stock valves should pose no ptv issues, I have an f-cam with such and no issues whatsoever

AS long as you haven't used the starter and just rolled the motor over by hand your not screwed yet............best thing to do is unbolt all the rockers roll the motor over so number 1 piston is up on tdc and keyway is straight up then roll the cam gear over so the dot is facing the bottom and the dot on the crank gear line up with it, then roll motor over twice and see if dots line back up at tdc then install rockers and roll back over and see if you feel it bind, setting motor on tdc is critical and making sure dot to dot is dead on or cam timing will be off and could seriously affect performance and or damage motor.
