my buddy has a brand new cam in his garage. hes stored it for a while and said i could have it. but its got some surface rust on it. not a lot, looks like little sprinkles of rust in some areas. how bad is this? is it usuable?

Try wiping it clean with some rust remover, hopefully the metal underneath isn't damaged.

as long as the lobes arent pitted they should be fine

Use a scotch green pot scubber and see if that will take it off.
