Default turn signal troubleshooting (HELP!)

my g.f's 87 is having a problem with the turn signals, haven't had time to look real hard but this is what i do know.

The turn signals aren't working
The hazards do work
The fuse for the signals is fine.

do i assume its something within the steering column?

There are 2 flashers, one for the hazards and one for the turn signals. I believe on my 87 the flasher for the hazards is on the back of the fuse panel and the flasher for the turn signals is under the column to the right side. Check that.

Have you had the dash apart lately?

I had the same problem. I just put in a 3 dollar flasher and it was fixed.
