The headers are red because the timing it retarded (late) so raw unburnt fuel is pouring down the headers and turning them red.

The temp. rises pretty quick, I still have a fan clutch and I have not installed the fan shroud I guess that is why my temp goes up so fast, what do you guys think? Next step is electric fan

not having a shrould could casue it to overheat at idle, but cruising down the road the fan shroud missing should not affect it
